I’m trying to recall the process of finding The One but honestly, I’ve blocked out much of what we went through. Unfortunately, it wasn’t an easy process. If money is no issue then you won’t have any problems. There is seemingly an endless amount of brand-new RVs at your disposal. When visiting a dealer in Lexington, Kentucky, we took a peek at one that was valued at $400,000. Wowza! It’s called a Tiffin Allegro and while it was very nice (and had a closet bigger than the one in our house) we were looking for something a little bit different. The salesperson was extremely helpful and I wish it would have worked out to buy from him but they had sold the RV that we went there to see and everything else was out of our price range.
Many hours were spent looking on the RV Trader site and more often than not we found that the site wasn’t updated often. We’d fall in love with a Forest River or a Coachman only to find that someone bought it a month earlier. Argh. And then we learned that there’s a handful of cities throughout the country that have huge supplies of RV...except they’re a plane-ride away. My favorite was in Salt Lake City, Utah, and now I can’t believe I thought that was a feasible option!
We were getting down to the wire. With only three months to go before the big trip we had yet to find The One. Needless to say, I was panicking. Kevin had Good Friday off of work and that morning we saw one online that fit the bill of what we were looking for and it was in Indianapolis, just an hour and a half away! Kevin gave the dealership a call and got on the road. He liked what he saw, with a few minor fixes. Now we were getting somewhere!
Have you ever seen the Robin Williams’ movie RV? It’s a fun movie, but it also shows what people who have never driven an RV and (more importantly) do not own it can do to a rental. I bring this up because the one in Indy was a former rental. Fortunately, a new one popped up in northern Ohio and that was The One. Here are some pictures of the beauty :)

We purchased from a private seller. |

Didn't want to pressure Kev too much while watching him back the rig out ;) |

What luck! Mark, Michelle, and their kids were camping in the area this weekend |

and got to see it first, as well as take our family photo :) |

I followed the rest of the family home in the rain. |
